Help Us Build a Postpartum Healing & Care Space

This is where it began. We’re actively transforming a home into a postpartum healing space where guests can rest, heal, and receive life-saving support after birth.

“Two Black women with a dream of what postpartum care could look like in community are making this happen—turning our little into a whole lot.”

What We’re Building

DUENOLA is transforming a home into postpartum care space where guests can receive support and care for up-to 6 months after birth in New Orleans.

This space will provide:

  • Temporary postpartum care for guests

  • Doula support during recovery

  • Case management and resource navigation

  • Community-centered care rooted in equity

This isn’t just a vision—it’s already underway!

Already in Motion

Even as we build, we are already serving our community.

DUENOLA is:

  • Supporting families through community events

  • Distributing resources and supplies

  • Partnering with local organizations

  • Creating spaces for education and connection

Care doesn’t start when the doors open—it’s already happening!

What It Takes to Build

We are rebuilding this space from the inside out.

Walls are being torn down to uncover hidden damage.
Foundations are being repaired.
Structural issues—from termites to unsafe systems—are being addressed in real time.

This is more than renovation.
This is creating a safe, stable environment where postpartum guests can rest, recover, and be supported with dignity.

Reality of the Build…

Every wall we open tells the truth of what it takes to build something safe, healing, and transformative. This is the work behind the vision.

This space will shape the beginning of a loving story for families of New Orleans!

Why This Matters

The most dangerous part of giving birth is often what comes after birth.

In Louisiana, maternal mortality rates are among the highest in the country. Most pregnancy-related deaths happen in the weeks and months after delivery—and the majority are preventable.

Black women are disproportionately impacted, often facing barriers to care, safe recovery spaces, and consistent support.

Postpartum care isn’t a luxury.
It’s a life-saving intervention.

For some families, that care also means having a temporary place to be supported as guests while they recover and connect to longer-term resources.
